Build Your Character
Download worksheetBuilding good character can help you make good choices, develop self-esteem, and become a responsible and caring individual. Character can vary from person to person and can be specific to an individual. A person’s character is determined by how they think, feel, react, and behave.
To build a good character, follow the Six Pillars of Character:
- Trustworthiness – Be honest, loyal, and keep your promises.
- Respect – follow the golden rule and be considerate of others’ feelings.
- Responsibility – Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes.
- Fairness – Play by the rules and don’t take advantage of others.
- Caring – Be kind, compassionate, and forgive others.
- Citizenship – Do your share to make your home, school, and community better.
Each pillar of character can mean something a little different for each person, but they are all the same at the core. The differences we have are what makes us each unique. The Clothed in Character Challenge is a great tool for you to think about what each character pillar means to you. Use it to reflect on your own character.
