Chores are a simple way to add helpfulness around the home. Did you know that less than 30% of kids are reported to help with household chores? Chores don’t always sound like a fun way to pass time, but there are benefits for kids who help with chores that help set them up for a successful future.

Chores can help you learn:

  • Responsibility
  • Teamwork
  • Work ethic
  • Time management
  • Independence
  • Appreciation

Can you think of anything else you can learn from doing chores? KidsFit wants to not only help your family with making movement fun- we want to help your family with new ways to learn life skills.

The Chore Chart Challenge can help set your family up for a productive week and stay on top of household tasks.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Print out the Hy-Vee KidsFit Chore Chart
  2. Write down the daily tasks your parents would like you to help with
  3. Write down the weekly tasks you will do
  4. If your family has rewards or an allowance, your family can decide what you would like those to be
  5. Each day/week that you complete a task, mark off the star on the chore chart
  6. Complete your chores each day to build life skills you can use in the future

Pro tip: laminate the chore chart challenge to keep reusing it each week
